What type of material is the shelving made of?
Our shelves are made of solid pine. Our uprights are made of solid hemlock. We use solid hemlock as it has the same look and characteristics of pine, but it is clear of all knots. We do not have any significant knots in our uprights like we can and will have in our pine shelves. All knots in our pine shelves are sanded smooth (And filled on larger knots).

Are the units easy to install?
Yes! In fact, if you are using our freestanding kits you won't need to use any of your own tools. A simple Allen wrench is all that is needed and we include this with all our freestanding kits. We have easy to understand instructions that are included.

How much weight can each shelf hold?
The fact is, in over 50 years of manufacturing Lundia shelving, we've never seen a shelf break. If a shelf is overloaded you might see a deflection in the shelf. For most bookcases, typically any 24", 30" or 36" wide shelf will not deflect. Our 42" and 48" shelves may bow slightly if they are overloaded. Where do you ship to?
We ship to all 48 states in the continental US. We do ship to Hawaii and Alaska and parts outside the US (Including Canada). We ship from San Dimas, California (Approximately 30 minutes east of downtown Los Angeles).

How long will it take to receive my order?
Your Lundia system will be handcrafted in our factory after your order is placed. Our manufacturing time is improving. Current production time is now 8 to 10 weeks. This does not include shipping transit times from our facility in Southern California. Your final invoice with tracking information will be emailed once your order is shipped.

Can the shelves fit into an existing bookcase?
Yes, if you have an old Lundia shelving system, even from the 1960's our shelves will still fit. Please be sure to make sure you have Lundia that was manufactured in the USA. Lundia made in Europe will not fit. Lundia made in Europe is not interchangeable as it is made in centimeters. Lundia made in America is made in inches.
